Team Leader, Technical Office

Function

As Team Leader of the Technical Office, you are the driving force behind the technical department. You combine your strong technical expertise with excellent people management skills and a keen eye for process optimisation. Together with your team, you ensure that quotations are drawn up accurately and on time, whilst providing customers with expert technical advice. You coordinate day-to-day work planning, monitor quality and efficiency, and take the lead on optimisation projects. You bring people, technology and figures together and play a crucial role in the operational and strategic growth of our technical office.

Key responsibilities:

• Organising and managing the estimation team’s day-to-day work schedule.
• Preparing and reviewing cost estimates and quotations for metalworking.
• Analysing and interpreting technical drawings and customer requirements.
• To provide practical and technical advice to clients, project managers and colleagues.
• Communicating with customers about current orders and changes.
• Coaching, mentoring and developing team members, with a focus on those with less experience.
• Creating an efficient, collaborative and engaged team environment.
• Initiating and implementing process and system improvements.
• Monitoring KPIs such as internal satisfaction, engagement and training courses completed.
• Ensuring accurate financial processing, compliance and cost management.

Profile

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in an engineering or architecture programme.
• Relevant experience in work planning, cost estimation, engineering or within a technical consultancy.
• Experience of leading or coaching a team.
• An interest in manufacturing processes, preferably metalworking (laser cutting, bending, welding).
• Strong technical and analytical skills, combined with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach.
• Experience with ERP systems and cost estimation or planning software.
• Proficiency in MS Office and a strongly digitally-oriented mindset.
• Excellent knowledge of Dutch and good knowledge of French. Knowledge of English is an advantage.
