Accountant A to Y/Z
Function
As an accountant, you take on a wide-ranging role within the financial administration department. You ensure that the accounts are processed accurately and on time, and you prepare various financial processes.
Your duties will include:
- You will carry out day-to-day bookkeeping and checks.
- You will check and prepare invoices for processing and payment.
- You ensure that payments are prepared correctly.
- You will prepare the monthly and annual accounts.
- You will be responsible for preparing VAT returns and Intrastat returns.
- You will process and check documents relating to imports, customs and international transactions.
- You’ll be keeping track of the cash flow forecast.
- You will assist with the financial administration of various companies.
- You take into account the various international structures and administrative requirements.
- You will help to ensure that transactions between the various entities are processed correctly.
- You’ll help to come up with ideas on how processes can be made more efficient and clearer.
- You are a key point of contact for management on financial and administrative matters.
You’ll be joining a fast-paced environment. The transition to Business Central and the increase in the number of companies mean that not everything is fully up and running yet. So you’ll not only have an operational role, but also the opportunity to help shape the structure.
Profile
For this role, we are looking for someone who has already built up a solid foundation in accountancy. A candidate with at least five years’ experience would be a good fit for what the organisation is looking for. A very junior candidate would be less suitable, as you need sufficient maturity and independence to oversee the various accounts and the international context.
In addition, you recognise yourself in the following characteristics:
- You have experience in an accounting role and are comfortable with a wide-ranging A-Y/A-Z role.
- You are familiar with the basics of VAT and financial administration.
- Experience of working in an international environment is a major asset.
- You are not daunted by complex administrative structures or different companies.
- Experience with intercompany transactions is an advantage, but not a requirement. Moreover, thanks to the automation within Business Central, this is easy to learn.
- You are punctual and have an eye for detail.
- You are methodical and enjoy bringing structure to things.
- You communicate clearly and directly, without coming across as too harsh or rigid.
- You take responsibility and enjoy building relationships based on trust with your colleagues and managers.
- You are driven and take the initiative. A passive approach is not really suited to this role.
- You have a good knowledge of French and English. Both languages are important in day-to-day collaboration with the various countries.
Organisation
You will be joining a family-run business with a flat organisational structure that is growing rapidly. The organisation has around 70 employees spread across various countries, including around 25 in Belgium and five in the warehouse.
The company does not manufacture any products itself, but is responsible for the distribution and installation of products at customers’ premises. Its international operations have expanded significantly in recent times. Since the start of this year, its operations have been divided amongst various entities covering the Benelux, France, Germany and the international market.
This growth is bringing about a great deal of change. The administration has been fully migrated from Navision to Business Central, and various processes – including intercompany invoicing – are being further optimised. There are still a few teething problems, which means that someone who likes to contribute ideas and help fine-tune things can really make a difference here.
At the same time, the family-like atmosphere is maintained. Staff work together in a neat and well-maintained working environment, and great importance is attached to a professional appearance. Investment in the team extends beyond the workplace too, including team-building activities, sporting activities and access to fitness facilities.
Offer
You will take on a wide-ranging accounting role within an international and growing organisation, with the opportunity to take on responsibility and help drive further professional development.
On top of that, you can count on:
- A full-time role of 39 hours per week.
- A 4/5ths working arrangement is negotiable; part-time work is not an option. Preference is given to a full-time role.
- Fixed working hours: 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, and until 4.30 pm on Fridays.
- No working from home.
- 20 leave days + 6 ADV days.
- Meal vouchers worth €7.50.
- A group insurance scheme, including pension accrual.
- Eco-vouchers, which are redeemed as part of the group insurance package.
- Mobile phones, laptops and subscriptions.
- A net salary, to be discussed depending on the role.
- An attractive remuneration package, tailored to your experience.
- A family-like working environment with short lines of communication.
- Sports facilities at work, including a weekly session with a sports coach.
- Regular team activities and team-building events.
- An organisation that is growing rapidly and where your contribution is immediately evident.
