Project manager civil engineering

Function

As Project manager civil engineering at Antwerp You will take charge of one or more civil engineering projects within an industrial environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, high-quality and cost-effective delivery of projects from start-up to handover, with a strong focus on planning, coordination and monitoring. In this role, you will combine technical expertise with people management skills and be given the opportunity to play an active part in driving the further growth of our civil engineering activities.

You will work closely with site managers, foremen, internal departments, clients and external partners. In doing so, you will monitor not only day-to-day progress on site, but also the financial and organisational aspects of each project. You will report to the Operations Manager and have the opportunity to help shape the direction of a department with clear ambitions.

Your responsibilities:

• Organising, coordinating and managing civil engineering projects from the preparatory stage through to completion
• Monitoring the schedule, budget, quality and safety within each project
• Ensuring accurate financial monitoring of costs, revenue and profitability
• Maintaining contact with clients and actively monitoring project progress
• Managing site managers and foremen and ensuring smooth cooperation on site
• Conducting performance and appraisal reviews and identifying training needs
• Monitoring compliance with HSE procedures and quality guidelines
• Attend order follow-up meetings and report on results and risks in a timely manner
• Identifying opportunities in the market and helping to drive the further development of civil engineering activities
• Providing support with the analysis and preparation of public tenders

Profile

For this role, we are looking for a motivated project manager with a strong background in civil engineering and the ambition to develop further within an industrial context. You are someone who maintains a clear overview, is not afraid to make decisions and derives energy from managing people and projects. Experience in the sector is a major asset, but candidates with a solid technical background and some relevant practical experience are also welcome to apply.

Your profile:

• You hold a degree in Industrial Engineering (Construction), Civil Engineering or an equivalent level of qualification gained through experience
• Ideally, you will have experience in civil engineering; experience in an industrial environment would be a definite advantage
• You have strong organisational skills and are able to coordinate various stakeholders effectively
• You have strong leadership and communication skills
• You prioritise safety, quality, the environment and efficiency in everything you do
• You are a people manager who knows how to motivate and support staff
• You take a careful approach to financial responsibility and project monitoring
• You work in a structured manner, take the initiative and feel responsible for the end result
• You hold a VCA-VOL certificate or are willing to obtain one in the near future
• You can work fluently with MS Office
• Experience of, or an interest in, public procurement is an asset
• You speak Dutch fluently and have a good knowledge of English
