Credit Counsellor

Function

As a credit adviser, you will assist customers with their financing enquiries and ensure that their credit applications are properly managed from start to finish.

Your duties will include:

• You will hold discussions with customers about their credit needs and financial plans.
• You analyse their situation and clearly set out the options available.
• You will draw up loan proposals and guide customers through the decision-making process.
• You will compile credit files and monitor them closely.
• Your responsibilities will include handling mortgage loans, instalment loans and loans for the self-employed and business owners.
• You will liaise with customers, credit partners and colleagues within the organisation.
• You will monitor cases from the initial application right through to their final resolution.
• You work closely with the customer and always seek a solution that suits their situation both financially and practically.
• You will work closely with colleagues within the office and lend a hand in other areas where necessary.

You’ll be given plenty of scope to work independently, but you’ll never be left to your own devices. You can count on the expertise and support of experienced colleagues.

Profile

For this role, we are primarily looking for someone who has already gained some initial experience in the field of lending. Two years’ experience is sufficient: understanding the basics of lending and being able to assess applications independently are more important than a long track record.

In addition, you recognise yourself in the following:

• You have experience in lending, preferably within a banking or insurance environment.
• You have knowledge of mortgage loans and/or loans for the self-employed and businesses.
• You have an analytical mind and look beyond the figures.
• You work with attention to detail and take responsibility for your cases.
• You are an effective communicator and are able to explain financial matters in a way that is easy to understand.
• You are customer-focused and enjoy building relationships based on trust.
• You take the initiative and don’t just wait for someone to tell you what to do.
• You have a business-minded approach, whilst not losing sight of the importance of personal contact.
• You enjoy working with others and help to create a positive team atmosphere.

Organisation

You’ll be joining a locally-based banking and insurance firm where clients aren’t treated as just a number. The organisation has a broad client base and supports private individuals, the self-employed and business owners with their day-to-day banking, loans, insurance and other financial matters.

Within the team, there is a strong focus on collaboration and knowledge-sharing. You will be given responsibility for your own cases, but colleagues are on hand to offer their input when a case becomes more complex. Furthermore, great importance is attached to stability and building long-term client relationships.
