Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Function

As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will be one of the technical points of contact for electrical matters within the maintenance organisation. You will monitor the reliability and availability of the electrical installations and will be called upon when in-depth technical expertise is required.

• You will be jointly responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electricity grid with voltages of up to 150 kV.
• You ensure the safe and reliable operation of the electricity network.
• As part of the maintenance team, you will be involved in the technical side of various electrical installations at the production site.
• These include, amongst other things, the lighting network, fire detection systems, frequency converters and circuit breakers.
• You will come into contact with technical systems and components from various major industrial manufacturers.
• As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will support the maintenance department with more complex electrical problems and faults.
• You will mainly be involved when problems go beyond routine day-to-day maintenance and additional technical expertise is required.
• You analyse technical problems and work with the relevant colleagues to find a sustainable solution.
• Drawing on your electrical expertise, you will provide technical advice to, amongst others, the maintenance, production and project departments.
• You will also be responsible for smaller maintenance-related electrical projects.
• Across the various technical areas, you will work alongside specialist teams and their managers.
• When developing solutions, you take safety, operational reliability, technical quality and costs into account.

Profile

For this role as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, we are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys working closely with technology. You have sufficient expertise to analyse complex electrical problems and advise other technical colleagues within your field of specialism.

• You hold a Master’s degree in Industrial Sciences: Electrical Engineering, Electromechanics, with a strong specialisation in electrical engineering, or have equivalent experience.
• You have several years’ relevant experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial production or process environment.
• Experience in an industrial environment is important for this role.
• You have a thorough knowledge of industrial electricity.
• Knowledge of medium-voltage and/or high-voltage systems is a major asset.
• Experience with frequency converters, power switches, electrical distribution systems or similar industrial systems would be an advantage.
• You are skilled at analysing and solving complex technical problems.
• You think pragmatically and look for solutions that are both technically reliable and practically feasible.
• You take the initiative and are able to tackle technical issues independently.
• You can plan and organise tasks and smaller projects efficiently.
• You work in a cost-conscious manner without compromising on safety or quality.
• You communicate easily with technicians, engineers, production staff and other internal departments.
• You enjoy working as part of a team, but are also able to handle technical matters independently.
• Safety and quality are your top priorities.
• Proficiency in Dutch is essential.

Organisation

You will be joining a major international industrial player at its site in Langerbrugge, in the Ghent region. The company produces high-quality newsprint and magazine paper made from 100% recycled paper.

This is a large process environment with an extensive range of technical machinery and plant. Among other things, the site has its own electricity grid and numerous industrial electrical installations, which means that electricity and electrical operational reliability play a key role within the technical department.

Sustainability is also a key focus within the production environment. The site has two biomass power stations that generate all the process steam required. Together with three wind turbines, these ensure that more than 80% of the electricity required is generated locally.

Safety is a key priority within the organisation. In addition, there is significant investment in technical training and development, enabling you to further deepen your expertise in industrial electricity.
