Electrical/PLC engineer
Function
As an Electrical & Programming Engineer, you will be responsible for designing electrical schematics, developing control software and performing risk analyses for industrial machines. You will also ensure clear technical documentation, correct component selection and full preparation of electrical files towards the cabinet builder.
Within this position, you will play a key role in testing machines, supervising Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and solving technical problems. You will also support the maintenance department with electrical and software failures and actively contribute to the safety, reliability and standardisation of machines.
You continuously keep abreast of new technologies and ensure that software tools and engineering standards used remain current.
- Electrical diagrams and documentation: You will prepare electrical schematics and keep them up-to-date, including IO lists, terminal plans and cable lists. You ensure that as-built files are correctly maintained and revisions are clearly documented so that assembly and service always work with the correct information.
- Programming (PLC, HMI, drives and safety): You develop and test PLC and HMI software, including alarm structures, recipes, data logging and user interfaces. You also configure inverters and servo-controllers and implement safety functions such as emergency stop circuits, interlocks and safety functions with attention to standardisation.
- Risk analysis and standardisation: You participate in risk analyses of electrical and automation components and translate these into concrete technical solutions. In doing so, you ensure that designs and software comply with relevant standards such as CE, EMC and low-voltage directives, as well as internal standards.
- Operating instructions and technical files: You draw up clear operating instructions and test procedures for setting up, testing and operating machines. You ensure that all documentation remains clear, accessible and up-to-date for assembly, service and after-sales.
- Component selection and preparation for cabinet construction: You select suitable components such as PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators and safety components based on functionality, availability, customer requirements and cost. You deliver complete component packages and specifications to the cabinet builder and coordinate technically on layout and compatibility. You request quotations, evaluate them and order complete electrical cabinets within the agreed guidelines. You also monitor delivery deadlines and carry out quality checks upon receipt.
- Testing, FAT guidance and troubleshooting: You prepare and execute functional tests according to structured test scenarios. During FAT testing, you supervise the process, record findings and efficiently resolve technical problems until release of the installation.
- Maintenance and service support: You support the maintenance department in analysing electrical and PLC faults and advise on structural solutions or parameter updates. You share lessons learned with engineering and service to avoid recurrence of problems.
