Logistics Assistant, Customer Service
Function
As Logistics Assistant, Customer Service You’ll be the link between customers, dispatch and administration. As part of a dynamic customer service team, you’ll ensure that transport orders are processed and followed up correctly from start to finish. You’ll keep a cool head when things get hectic and make sure that every loading and unloading appointment runs smoothly and reaches the right destination.
You’ll be based in Erpe-Mere, East Flanders, within a medium-sized Belgian transport and logistics company specialising in groupage transport to and from France and the United Kingdom. Together with your colleagues, you will contribute to providing customer-focused services in the areas of groupage, full-trailer transport and value-added warehousing.
- You will enter transport orders and monitor them closely from both a commercial and administrative perspective.
- You communicate clearly and professionally with customers by telephone and email.
- You look up transport rates, communicate these to the customer and process the necessary information correctly.
- You must enter all details carefully into the TMS and clearly pass on any relevant information to the dispatch team.
- You will be fully responsible for all communication regarding loading and unloading arrangements.
- You will create complaint files and provide the necessary information to the accounts department.
- You will work alongside colleagues in customer service, dispatching, the warehouse and administration on a daily basis.
- You will help to create a working environment centred on service, teamwork, respect and a customer-focused approach.
Profile
For this role, we’re looking for someone who combines logistical precision with a gift of the gab and a healthy dose of initiative. You don’t need to have the perfect answer to every transport puzzle straight away, but you do know how to gather the right information, communicate clearly and see a case through to a successful conclusion with care.
- You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; ideally, you will bring 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in customer service, transport or logistics.
- You have a good knowledge of the national and international road network.
- You communicate fluently in the Dutch, French and English, both orally and in writing.
- You are highly customer-focused, proactive and have good communication skills.
- You work with precision and keep track of things when several orders, enquiries and appointments come in at the same time.
- You are a go-getter who tackles challenges in a practical and solution-oriented way.
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Experience with a TMS or transport administration is a major asset.
- You enjoy working as part of a team and clearly coordinate information with colleagues in the dispatch centre and other departments.
