Function

As an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the entire development process for new and existing machines and products. You will take a holistic view and oversee your designs beyond the concept and drafting stages.

Specifically, as an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

• Conceptual and mechanical design of new machines, components and technical solutions.
• To be involved in the entire process, from concept to production.
• We specialise in engineering, prototyping, testing and verification of your designs.
• Developing technical solutions with a focus on feasibility and production.
• To contribute to the development of the tooling required for production.
• Draw up and maintain the necessary technical documentation.
• Take into account quality requirements, QA/QC, product margins, costs and agreed deadlines.
• Take ownership of your designs and monitor them throughout the entire development process.
• To coordinate technical matters with suppliers and internal and external stakeholders within an international environment.
• To develop innovative concepts that further improve the performance and efficiency of new and existing products.
• Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and technical concept development.
• Modelling, technically substantiating and demonstrating ideas and concepts.
• Approaching technical challenges from the perspective of various engineering disciplines and devising solutions.

Profile

For this role as a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience, we are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer with a broad technical background. Not only are you skilled in mechanical design, but you also understand how different engineering disciplines influence one another within complex mechanical engineering.

As an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, you will recognise yourself in the following:

• You hold a master’s degree in Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design or a comparable technical degree.
• You have at least 10 years’ relevant experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a mechanical engineering environment.
• You have a very strong knowledge of mechanical design and engineering.
• You have knowledge of and experience in various technical fields, such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, electrical engineering and FEA.
• You are able to work out technical concepts independently and develop them further into feasible solutions.
• You are creative and good at coming up with new technical concepts.
• You have an eye for technical performance as well as efficiency and manufacturability.
• You are able to work dynamically and independently.
• You take ownership of your responsibilities and projects.
• You take the initiative and don’t wait to tackle technical challenges.
• You have a keen passion for technology, innovation and high-tech mechanical engineering.
• You enjoy working alongside colleagues from various technical disciplines.
• You speak English fluently because of the international working environment.

You will be joining an international high-tech machine manufacturer in the Deinze area that develops advanced machines, components and software solutions for industrial coating processes.

The technology is used worldwide in applications such as energy-efficient glass, displays, solar panels, batteries and other innovative industrial applications.
