Project Manager

Function

As Project Manager You will contribute to challenging civil engineering projects within one of Belgium’s top three construction groups. You will be part of the civil engineering department, where buildings, infrastructure and civil works come together in projects that are substantively strong and make a technical difference. You will be based in Brussels, focusing on the axis Antwerp – Brussels and projects in the region Leuven, Limburg and Liege.

The role involves a combination of coordination, monitoring and actively helping to set the direction. You will work closely with colleagues in the cost estimation and tendering departments, who are strongly focused on implementation, and ensure that plans do not remain on paper but are carried out smoothly and feasibly on site.

Your range of tasks:

• You will oversee projects from the preparation stage through to implementation and follow-up.
• Coordination with tender engineers, cost estimators, work planning staff and site teams is part of the day-to-day work.
• You will continue to oversee the planning, quality, budget and progress of the works.
• Thanks to your follow-up, communication between internal teams, subcontractors and other parties involved runs smoothly.
• Risks are identified in good time and addressed where necessary, using a pragmatic and well-considered approach.
• Work at various sites is monitored, with regular visits to Neder-Over-Heembeek whenever necessary.
• You will help ensure that the work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• You enjoy contributing ideas to solutions and dynamic projects.

Depending on your experience, you can start out in a more operational project management role or progress through a career development programme to take on significant responsibility within the tendering and implementation environment. For a recent Master’s graduate with a clear focus on Tender Engineer / Quantity Surveyor is there even a a traineeship lasting approximately one year, during which you will get to know various departments, with the ultimate aim of joining the tendering and costing department.

Profile

For this role, our client is looking for someone with a bachelor’s or master’s level of thinking and preferably experience within a relevant architectural or civil engineering environment. An experienced tradesman with a solid background in a Class 7 or Class 8 context could also be an excellent fit here, provided they possess the necessary technical acumen and a sense of responsibility.

What you bring:

• A background in architecture, civil engineering, construction management or a related field.
• Experience in project monitoring, site coordination, cost estimation or tendering would be a great asset.
• Strong at planning, organising and communicating.
• Analytical and practical: figures and deadlines are no problem for you.
• Able to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds and maintain a clear overview, even in a dynamic environment.
• Flexible in terms of distance and willing to work actively along the route Antwerp – Brussels.
• A keen interest in civil engineering and the ambition to develop further in this field.
• Hands-on, keen to learn and perfectly at home in a dynamic environment.

Additional advantages:

Our client is deliberately not looking for purely infrastructure-related roles. The focus here is on civil engineering, with a clear link to implementation, coordination and project monitoring.
