Site Manager – Waste Streams & Earthworks

Function

As Site Manager for Waste Streams and Earthworks in Wetteren, you will take on a varied, operational role that combines waste management, site management and site supervision. You will spend approximately 50% on site and 50% on monitoring and administration, enabling you to remain closely involved in day-to-day operations whilst also helping to oversee the organisation. You will be responsible for several soil processing sites and construction sites. You will coordinate day-to-day operations, manage staff and resources, and oversee quality, safety and compliance. In addition, you will monitor soil flows, take samples and oversee collaboration with internal and external partners.

Your range of tasks:

• Monitoring of earthworks sites and construction sites;
• Organising sampling and monitoring the flow and destination of soil;
• Monitoring regulations relating to earthworks, the environment, waste and safety;
• Managing your own team and coordinating subcontractors and partners;
• Planning and monitoring construction projects from start to finish;
• Monitoring of licences, quantities, progress reports and final cost calculations;
• Identifying bottlenecks and seeking practical solutions;
• Contributing ideas on how to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of sites and projects;
• Maintaining contact with customers, suppliers, internal departments and government bodies.

Profile

Above all, we are looking for a hands-on, keen to learn and responsible candidate with a practical mindset and strong communication skills. Experience in earthworks is an advantage, but motivation and potential for growth are just as important.

What we expect from you:

• Bachelor’s degree level, in engineering, architecture or environmental studies, or equivalent through experience;
• 0 to 3 years’ experience or a strong desire to develop;
• an interest in earthworks or a similar field;
• strong organisational and communication skills;
• an interest in regulations and administration;
• good knowledge of Dutch; French/English would be an advantage;
• Category B driving licence;
• willingness to work for around 12 hours a day between 06:00 and 18:00.

Experience as a foreman, site manager or site supervisor would be an advantage.

Organisation

This family-run business is active in the maintenance and management of public spaces and works exclusively on public sector contracts. Its activities include, amongst other things, green space and road maintenance, motorway mowing, gully clearance, coppice management, street sweeping and night-time tunnel cleaning. The group comprises around 12 operational companies, operating in Flanders and Wallonia across various specialist sectors.
