Test Application Engineer

Function

As Test Application Engineer Based in Genk, you will be responsible for designing, preparing, implementing and optimising test solutions within industrial automation projects. You will contribute to the development of machinery and turnkey installations for production, testing and assembly processes, and translate technical customer requirements into reliable test applications and efficient procedures.

In this role, you will work closely with the engineering, software, mechanical and project management teams to ensure that test processes are functional and reproducible. You will monitor the quality of the test setup, assist with the integration of hardware and software, and ensure that systems meet the agreed performance and quality standards.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Analysing technical specifications and customer requirements for test applications.
• Setting up, configuring and validating test environments and test procedures.
• Carrying out functional tests, fault analyses and performance verifications.
• Optimising test flows, measurement methods and test coverage.
• Documenting test results, non-conformities and corrective actions.
• Supporting internal teams and customers with technical queries during integration and commissioning.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of test concepts, tools and standards.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for a Test Application Engineer with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electromechanics, automation, electronics, software or a similar technical discipline, supplemented by approximately 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience. You have a keen interest in test automation, industrial systems and quality-focused technical environments.

You have an analytical and structured approach to your work and feel at ease in an environment where problem-solving, accuracy and collaboration are key. You also combine technical expertise with strong communication skills, enabling you to liaise effectively with internal teams and clients.

The ideal candidate will recognise themselves in the following profile:

• Experience with test set-ups, validation, troubleshooting or integration within industrial automation.
• A good understanding of hardware and software components in a technical environment.
• Ability to translate technical specifications into practical test solutions.
• A hands-on approach and an eye for quality, safety and reproducibility.
• Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to fault analysis.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
• Willingness to work as part of multidisciplinary and international teams.

Experience with industrial communication systems, automation platforms or test software would be an advantage.
