Embedded Software & Motion Control Engineer

Function

• Developing and maintaining embedded software for our machine controllers.
• Develop motion control systems for stepper motors, encoders and other drives.
• Setting up, testing and optimising positioning axes.
• Integrating sensors, actuators, digital I/O and frequency converters.
• Implement communication protocols such as Modbus RTU and other industrial interfaces.
• Translating machine functions into robust software logic and state machines.
• Debugging hardware and software together on prototypes and production machines.
• To contribute to the further development of our controller hardware.
• Collaborating with the mechanical engineering team on the development of new machine functions.
• Further develop machine-specific software towards a more modular and reusable software architecture.
• Contribute to diagnostics, logging and service functionality.
• In the long term, help ensure the integration between the real-time machine controller and higher software layers/HMI.

Profile

Experience or a keen interest in:

• C/C++ for embedded systems;
• microcontrollers, ideally STM32 or equivalent;
• real-time/deterministic machine control;
• stepper and/or servo motion;
• encoder feedback and positioning;
• PWM, timers, interrupts;
• digital and analogue I/O;
• industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, CAN and RS-485;
• frequency converters and electric drives;
• debugging of both hardware and software;
• Git/version control;
• basic knowledge of electronics and electrical diagrams.
