Tender Engineer

Function

As Proposal Engineer – Estimator Based in Temse, you will be working on tenders for infrastructure projects in Belgium and abroad. You will analyse tender documents and draw up technical and financial proposals. Working alongside project managers, engineers and senior management, you will ensure that tenders are accurate and competitive. In doing so, you will take into account costs, risks and the feasibility of the project.

Your responsibilities will include:

• A thorough examination of specifications, plans, contract documents and technical files.
• Developing implementation concepts that are both technically feasible and commercially viable.
• Preparing cost calculations, estimates and financial analyses.
• Compiling complete tender and quotation documents, including action plans, schedules, technical specifications and references.
• Requesting, comparing and evaluating quotations from suppliers, partners and subcontractors.
• Identifying risks, opportunities and areas for optimisation during the tender phase.
• Providing support for commercial, technical and contractual negotiations.
• Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to produce a proposal that has broad support.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for an experienced professional with a strong technical background and a well-developed commercial acumen. You are someone who enjoys delving into files, bringing structure to complex information and delivering high-quality work under time pressure. Ideally, you will have 5 to 10 years’ relevant experience in infrastructure, cost estimation, engineering, project preparation or tendering.

Your profile:

• You hold a master’s degree in a technical or engineering subject, or have equivalent experience.
• You have proven experience in cost calculations, tenders and contract documents.
• Experience in underground infrastructure, utility pipelines, and energy, water or telecoms projects is a major asset.
• You combine technical insight with analytical skills and a commercial acumen.
• You work with precision, in a structured manner and with a focus on results.
• You can manage several deadlines at the same time and keep track of everything, even when things get busy.
• You are a proactive team player with strong communication skills.
• You have a good working knowledge of MS Office; experience with cost estimation, planning or tendering software would be an advantage.
• You have an excellent command of Dutch and a good knowledge of French and English; knowledge of German is an added bonus
• Ideally, you should live within a reasonable distance of Temse.

This role requires someone who can work independently, but who also enjoys achieving results as part of a team within a technically driven and dynamic environment.
