Import Operations Clerk
Function
As Import Operations Clerk Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for the full administrative and operational management of import dossiers within an international maritime environment. Based in Antwerp, you will help to handle car carrier shipments and ensure that files are processed correctly, promptly and accurately from arrival to delivery.
In this role, you will combine file management, customer communication and operational coordination. You will monitor the progress of import flows, liaise with terminal staff, consignees and internal teams, and ensure that all necessary steps flow smoothly from one to the next. Thanks to your structured approach, every consignment remains under control, even when deadlines are tight and multiple parties are involved.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- opening and preparing the car carrier ship and the relevant vessel records;
- monitoring import lists and processing transhipments and outbound feeder shipments;
- the preparation and processing of RORO- and static/mafi-solutions;
- organising and following up on the initial PN/TS customs declaration and the associated depreciation;
- coordination with customers, consignees, terminal staff, the shipping line and other offices within the network;
- tracking cargo using loading assistance and customer-specific procedures;
- invoicing and payment tracking in collaboration with the accounts department;
- accurately recording, documenting and monitoring the operational status of each file.
You will be working in a team where knowledge-sharing, collegiality and a practical approach are key. At the same time, you will be given the freedom to take the initiative and contribute ideas on how to manage import operations efficiently and in a customer-focused manner.
Profile
For this role, we are looking for a candidate with 3 to 5 years’ experience, preferably in a maritime environment or within the shipping industry. You feel at home in an operational setting where precision, pace and teamwork are key, and you thrive on managing projects from start to finish.
Your profile:
- you have some initial relevant experience in a maritime or logistics environment, ideally within the shipping sector;
- you work service- and customer-oriented, both towards customers and towards colleagues and other departments;
- you like to plan ahead and leave nothing to chance;
- you remain meticulous and keep a clear overview, even under pressure;
- You’re a practical person and enjoy working hands-on;
- you communicate fluently in Dutch and English;
- You’re a real team player, but you’re also able to manage your own cases independently.
A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management or a similar qualification would be an advantage. Experience with customs formalities, import documents, operational planning or invoicing within a shipping context is a strong asset.

The brand-new office and adjoining 9,000 m² warehouse are situated in a sustainable location on the former site of Petroleum Zuid.
